Step outside on a warm summer evening, fix your gaze on the twilit sky above the treetops, and wherever you are in the world you are likely to be treated to a show of impressive aerial skill by bats. Since 1994, Christine has provided innovative and entertaining educational programs on these mysterious mammals. Sometimes derided, but always fascinating, bats offer the opportunity to teach a wide range of science concepts, enriching our understanding of the health and diversity of local and global environments.
Christine offers presentations designed for the interests of families and visitors to parks, zoos, and nature centers, as well as programs meeting the more specific needs of educators.

"Christine Petersen has been leading members from The Friends of Wolsfeld Woods on educational bat walks since 2001. Christine is engaging, knowledgeable and inclusive. She allows children an opportunity to hold the echolocator to follow a bat’s sound path. Based on the speeds of the bat’s sonar calls, she asks the child to guess when the bat catches an insect. She also challenges her audience to identify the bat by the distinguishing pattern of its sonar calls. Although participants are unlikely to do more than glimpse a flying bat over open water, they become fascinated with the mysterious lives of bats, drawn in by Christine’s own enthusiasm for her subject." --Board Member, Friends of Wolsfeld Woods, Long Lake, MN http://wolsfeldwoods.org/
